Marrakech Tours & Things to Do

Marrakech — Central Morocco. The Red City — souks, palaces and the legendary Jemaa el-Fnaa.

Why visit Marrakech

Marrakech is the Red City — a 1,000-year-old imperial capital whose UNESCO-listed medina wraps around Jemaa el-Fnaa, the greatest open-air theatre in Morocco, and the natural hub for every Royal Morocco Trips journey. The Atlas and Agafay are under 90 minutes away, the Sahara loops start here, and Essaouira is a morning’s drive west. Most travellers spend 2–3 city days with us, then continue into the mountains or desert.

Planning your Marrakech trip

Trip length: 2–3 city days plus day trips; 5–7 days to add a Sahara loop; 10–14 days for the full imperial-cities, desert and coast circuit.

Travel rhythm: Early medina starts before the heat, a riad break at midday, gardens or souks in the afternoon, and Jemaa el-Fnaa at dusk.

Who it suits: Everyone — families, couples, solo travellers and groups; the city is also the pickup point for every tour.

Fitness & mobility: The medina is flat but crowded and maze-like; guided walks cover 5–8km at a relaxed pace. Tell us about mobility needs and we adapt.

What needs confirmation: Riad category, guide and day-trip availability are confirmed with your booking request.

Marrakech FAQs

Is Marrakech suitable for a solo traveller?

Yes — Marrakech is one of Morocco’s most visited cities and very manageable solo. The main concerns are navigating the souks (a guide for the first day is valuable) and standard petty-theft awareness in crowded spaces.

How many days do I need in Marrakech?

Two days covers the main highlights — Jemaa el-Fnaa, major souks, Majorelle Garden or Bahia Palace. Three days allows a day trip to the Atlas or Agafay. Five days enables the classic day trip combination (Essaouira or Ouarzazate).

What is Jemaa el-Fnaa?

The main central square of the Marrakech medina — UNESCO-listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. By day: orange juice sellers and henna artists. By evening: storytellers, acrobats, musicians, and 100+ food stalls. Visit at sunset for the full theatrical experience.

Are there riads to stay in Marrakech?

Hundreds — from budget guesthouses to luxury boutique riads with pools and rooftop terraces. A riad in the medina is the most atmospheric Marrakech experience and the recommended choice over city-edge hotels.
