Destinations: Marrakech · Duration: 7 hours · Difficulty: Easy · Group size: Up to 12
Behind the bustle of the medina, Marrakech hides a quieter world of ornamental palaces and serene gardens built for sultans, viziers and artists. This day trip is designed for travellers who love architecture, design and photography.
You will step inside the Bahia Palace, once the grandest residence in the city, and read its painted ceilings and tiled courtyards like a storybook. From there the tour moves to the tranquil Majorelle Garden and the adjoining museums, a cobalt-blue oasis created by the painter Jacques Majorelle and later restored by Yves Saint Laurent.
Throughout the day your guide balances history with practical tips for the best light and angles, making this an ideal itinerary for keen photographers as well as garden lovers.
Begin with the 19th-century Bahia Palace, exploring its harem quarters, marble courts and carved detail.
Wander the vast ruins of El Badi Palace, home to nesting storks and sweeping city views.
Pause for lunch at a garden restaurant (optional) before the afternoon gardens.
Explore the famous cobalt garden, cactus collections and the Berber Museum.
End at the historic Menara olive groves and reflecting pool with the Atlas as a backdrop.
