Erg Chigaga is the largest and most remote dune field in Morocco, reached only by 4x4 across open desert. This four-day tour is for travellers who want the real, untamed Sahara.
Beyond the end of the tarmac at M’Hamid, you cross rocky hammada and sand tracks to the towering dunes of Chigaga, where a desert camp sits in splendid isolation. Nights here are among the darkest and most star-filled you will ever see.
The journey there is an adventure in itself, through kasbahs, oases and the ever-changing colours of the pre-Saharan south.
Salida de Marrakech a las 07:30. Cruce del Alto Atlas por el puerto de Tizi n’Tichka, parada en Aït Ben Haddou (ksar UNESCO). Noche en Ouarzazate.
Ruta del valle del Draa entre palmerales y kasbahs hasta M’Hamid. Cruce 4x4 por la tarde hacia el campamento de Erg Chigaga (2–3 h). Llegada para el atardecer.
Amanecer en las dunas, trek en camello, visita a una familia nómada. Sesión de fotos por la tarde. Segunda noche en el campamento bajo las estrellas.
Mañana en las dunas, luego 4x4 de vuelta a M’Hamid y ruta panorámica a Zagora para una última noche en casa de huéspedes.

October–April for comfortable desert days; spring and autumn are ideal. Warm sunny days and cold, star-filled nights; summer midday heat can exceed 40°C. Spring and autumn are the busiest and most beautiful; book early for these months. Summer is quieter inland due to heat, winter quieter on the coast.
