The Todra gorge is one of the most dramatic canyons in North Africa, its sheer 300-metre walls narrowing to just a few metres wide. This two-day tour lets you experience it properly, on foot and overnight.
You walk through the gorge and its lush palmeries, following paths used by locals and climbers, with time to feel the scale of the cliffs above. A night in a guesthouse at the mouth of the canyon means an early, crowd-free morning walk.
It is a moderate, rewarding hike suitable for anyone reasonably active.

Roads are paved mountain roads with hairpin bends up to the trailhead, and we build in regular photo and comfort stops so the journey is part of the experience. Exact drive times depend on your route and pace and are confirmed with your booking.
You stay in Mountain refuge / Berber gite. Rooms are private with en-suite bathrooms unless noted. Upgrades to higher-category riads, hotels or luxury camps are available — just ask when booking.

No technical climbing is involved, but a good level of fitness helps. The itinerary is paced to aid acclimatisation, your guide monitors everyone closely, and we descend at the first sign of altitude sickness. Stay hydrated, walk slowly and you will do well.

April–October for the high peaks (winter summits require crampons and experience). Cool mountain air, strong sun by day and near-freezing nights at altitude. Spring and autumn are the busiest and most beautiful; book early for these months. Summer is quieter inland due to heat, winter quieter on the coast.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel and medical insurance for every guest. For this tour, insurance covering trekking/cycling and mountain rescue is mandatory.
