Destinations: Ourika Valley, Imlil · Duration: 2 days · Difficulty: Moderate · Group size: Up to 8
When the winter snows melt, the rivers of the High Atlas come alive, and for a few thrilling months they offer genuine whitewater rafting. This two-day adventure puts you in the raft with qualified river guides for grade two and three rapids through green, steep-sided valleys.
Between the paddling you hike sections of riverside trail, picnic on the banks and stay overnight in a welcoming Berber guesthouse. It is a rare, seasonal way to see the Atlas from water level, blending adrenaline with the region’s famous mountain hospitality.
This 2 days journey is led by licensed local guides who grew up in High Atlas, giving you privileged access to riverside Berber villages and women’s argan cooperatives alongside honest, unhurried travel. Every detail — comfortable private transport, hand-picked accommodation and authentic meals — is arranged so you can simply relax and take it in.
It is perfect for active travellers and keen hikers who want a genuine, well-run experience rather than a rushed coach tour. Small groups, transparent pricing and flexible planning mean the trip flexes around you.
Transfer to the river, safety and paddling briefing, then an afternoon rafting session followed by a riverside guesthouse stay.
A longer morning run through the best rapids, a riverside hike and picnic, then return.
