Destinations: Sidi Ifni, Agadir · Duration: 3 days · Difficulty: Moderate · Group size: Up to 8
Beyond the resorts lies a rawer, emptier Atlantic — a coast of red cliffs, deserted strands and a faded Spanish colonial town unlike anywhere else in Morocco. This three-day adventure heads south from Agadir into that little-visited landscape.
Sidi Ifni itself is a curiosity: a pastel art-deco town built by the Spanish, complete with a plaza that feels transplanted from Andalusia. Nearby, the famous ochre sea arches of Legzira draw photographers at sunset, their colours blazing as the tide turns.
You spend your days walking wild beaches, exploring tide pools and clifftop viewpoints, and soaking up a slower pace far from the tourist trail. It is a trip for the curious traveller and the photographer chasing light and solitude.
Drive from Agadir down the coast with viewpoint stops, arriving in Sidi Ifni to explore its art-deco streets.
Walk the wild beaches, discover the Legzira arches and shoot the sunset on the red cliffs.
A final clifftop walk and tide-pool exploration before the scenic drive back.
The approximate destination sequence for this tour, in travel order. Each stop links to its destination guide.
Around three hours each way, broken up with scenic coastal stops so it never feels long.
One of the original arches collapsed in 2016, but the remaining formation and cliffs are still spectacular and walkable at low tide, which we time for.
Not at all. It remains a quiet, atmospheric town with a distinctly Spanish colonial character.
Exceptionally. The red cliffs, arches and empty beaches at golden hour are a photographer’s dream, and the pace allows time to shoot.
The beach and clifftop walks are moderate, on sand and uneven ground, with the option to keep them gentle.
