Destinations: Merzouga · Duration: 1 day · Difficulty: Easy · Group size: Up to 12
If you are staying near Merzouga, this experience is dedicated to the two most magical times of day in the desert. It is designed around the light, for photographers and dreamers alike.
At dawn you head out to a high dune to watch the sun break over Erg Chebbi, the sand shifting from grey to fiery gold. In the late afternoon you return for a camel ride and sunset, with a 4x4 to reach the best vantage points.
Between sessions there is time to rest, and optional visits to nomad families or a desert oasis can be added.
4x4 naar een hoge duin voor de zonsopgang boven Erg Chebbi.
Terugkeer naar uw verblijf om te rusten tijdens de hitte van de dag.
Kamelrit door de duinen voor zonsondergang en fotografie.

Return transfers to Merzouga. Roads are a mix of smooth national highways and short off-road desert pistes near the dunes, and we build in regular photo and comfort stops so the journey is part of the experience. Exact drive times depend on your route and pace and are confirmed with your booking.
Day trip: breakfast not included, lunch included, dinner not included. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options are available on request — tell us your needs when booking. All meat served is halal.
No technical climbing is involved, but a good level of fitness helps. The itinerary is paced to aid acclimatisation, your guide monitors everyone closely, and we descend at the first sign of altitude sickness. Stay hydrated, walk slowly and you will do well.
Desert nights are cool to cold, especially October–March, so bring a warm layer. The camp provides thick blankets, comfortable beds in private tents and en-suite bathrooms with hot water — it is glamping, not roughing it.
Recommended for ages 12+; no technical climbing experience needed We can adapt the pace, provide car seats and suggest the most family-friendly options — just let us know your group when booking.
Cancellations made more than 30 days before departure receive a full refund of the balance paid. Between 30 and 14 days, 50% is refundable. Within 14 days the deposit is non-refundable. We recommend comprehensive travel insurance, and we always try to reschedule free of charge for genuine emergencies. Exact terms are confirmed with your booking.
October–April for comfortable desert days; spring and autumn are ideal. Warm sunny days and cold, star-filled nights; summer midday heat can exceed 40°C. Spring and autumn are the busiest and most beautiful; book early for these months. Summer is quieter inland due to heat, winter quieter on the coast.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel and medical insurance for every guest. For this tour, insurance covering trekking/cycling and mountain rescue is mandatory.
