Guida alle montagne dell’Atlante: trekking, villaggi e cultura berbera

Hassan Ait Baha · 16 min · Trekking

Frequently asked questions

Which Atlas range is best for trekking?

The High Atlas south of Marrakech is the trekking heartland, home to Mount Toubkal and the classic Three Valleys and Ait Bougmez routes. The Anti-Atlas offers quieter, more remote walking.

Can beginners trek the Atlas Mountains?

Yes. Gentle valley and village-to-village treks suit reasonably fit beginners, with mules carrying luggage so you walk with only a daypack. Higher summit routes demand more fitness.

What is a Berber village stay like?

You sleep in a family guesthouse or homestay in simple, clean rooms, share home-cooked tagines, and experience genuine mountain hospitality that begins with mint tea.

When is the best time to trek the Atlas?

Spring and autumn are ideal, with green valleys, wildflowers and stable weather. Summer suits higher altitudes, while winter brings snow to the peaks.
