Essaouira’s beach is one of the great walking sands of Morocco — a wide, wind-brushed crescent that stretches for kilometres beyond the town walls. This half-day is about breathing the ocean air and feeling the coast rather than ticking off monuments.
You set out along the shoreline where kitesurfers stitch the sky and camels rest on the dunes, then follow the bay south to the half-buried ruins of Borj el Baroud, an old fortress the sand is slowly reclaiming. Along the way your guide points out the dune flora, the shellfish gatherers and the estuary birdlife.
It is a flexible, gentle outing that families and couples both love. Walk the whole way, hop on a camel for a stretch, or simply stop to swim and picnic where the crowds thin out and the Atlantic does the talking.

April–November for warm, breezy coast days. Mild, breezy Atlantic climate year-round; water stays cool. Spring and autumn are the busiest and most beautiful; book early for these months. Summer is quieter inland due to heat, winter quieter on the coast.
