Six days Tangier to Marrakech via Chefchaouen, Fez and the Sahara — a compressed north-to-south journey.
This 6-day Tangier-to-Marrakech itinerary is a compressed north-to-south journey — Chefchaouen, Fez and the Sahara in a single week. It moves fast, but it delivers every headline Morocco sight: the Blue City, the world's oldest medina, the Sahara dunes and the Red City. If you have only a week and want it all, this is the route.
Arrive in Tangier and explore the port city's medina, Kasbah and Corniche. Overnight in Tangier.
A 2-hour drive south into the Rif to Chefchaouen, the Blue City. Wander the blue lanes and climb to the Spanish Mosque for sunset. Overnight in a Chefchaouen riad — the blue medina is best in the quiet morning, so an overnight is essential.
A 4-hour drive south-east to Fez. An afternoon guided start in the medina — the Chouara Tannery and Bou Inania Madrasa. Overnight in a Fez riad.
Depart Fez on a compressed Sahara loop. Day 4: drive via the Cedar Forest to Merzouga, a sunset camel trek into Erg Chebbi and a night in a desert camp. Day 5: sunrise over the dunes, then the long drive through Todra Gorge and the Dades Valley to a kasbah overnight.
A morning visit to the UNESCO ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, then the climb over the Tizi n'Tichka pass to Marrakech, arriving by late afternoon. The tour ends here — a Marrakech stay or onward travel can be added.
We run this as a 6-day private tour starting in Tangier and ending in Marrakech, with all transport, riads, kasbahs, the desert camp and a driver-guide included. Tell us your dates via the plan-my-trip form.
A private 6-day version runs approximately $750–1,200 per person (private driver-guide, riads and kasbah hotels, guided tours, desert camp, most desert-leg meals). International flights are not included.
Yes, but it is a packed itinerary. Six days covers Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fez, a 3-day Sahara loop to Merzouga ending in Marrakech. It moves fast — for a more relaxed pace, allow 8–10 days. The Sahara leg is the time-critical part.
A mid-range private 6-day trip runs roughly $750–1,200 per person including private driver-guide, riads and kasbah hotels, guided tours, the desert camp and most desert-leg meals. Flights are extra.
Tangier (night 1) → Chefchaouen (night 2) → Fez (night 3) → Sahara loop: Merzouga camel trek (night 4, desert camp) → Dades (night 5) → Aït Ben Haddou → Marrakech (day 6). A compressed but complete north-to-south journey.
It is fast — you get one night in most places and two long driving days on the Sahara leg. If you can, extend to 8–10 days for a relaxed pace. If 6 days is your limit, this route still delivers all the headline sights.
