Temperatures, rain and the best regions to visit each month — a complete Morocco weather guide with packing tips.
Morocco’s climate varies enormously by region and altitude — the coast stays mild, the interior gets hot, the mountains get snow, and the desert swings between extremes. Here is a month-by-month breakdown.
The sweet spot. Mild days (20–28°C), green Atlas valleys, wildflowers and comfortable desert nights. The best all-round season for trekking, cities and the Sahara. Pack layers.
Inland heat — Marrakech and the desert can exceed 40°C. Head for the Atlantic coast (Essaouira, Taghazout) where it stays breezy and 25–30°C, or the High Atlas for high-altitude trekking. Avoid the desert midday.
The second peak season. Warm days, cooler nights, ideal for the desert and long treks after the summer heat breaks. Sea temperatures are at their warmest. One of the best windows to visit.
Snow on the High Atlas and Toubkal — prime winter mountaineering season. Cities are quiet and mild (15–20°C). Desert days are pleasant but nights drop near freezing. Pack a warm jacket.
Most rain falls November to March, mainly in the north and Atlas. The south and desert are dry year-round. Flash floods can occur in gorges after rare storms — our guides monitor conditions and reroute if needed.
