Morocco Itineraries: 7, 10, 14 & 21-Day Plans

Hassan Ait Baha · 26 min · Morocco Itineraries

Four complete Morocco itineraries from one week to three, with day-by-day routing, pacing notes and the trade-offs that make each plan work.

A good itinerary is about pacing as much as places. Morocco rewards slow travel and punishes rushing — the drives are long, the medinas are exhausting, and the best moments often happen in the unplanned gaps. Here are four proven routes from one week to three, each balanced for realistic travel times.

The 7-Day Morocco Itinerary

The classic first-timer: city, mountains and desert in a single week.

Tight but satisfying. If you prefer coast over desert, swap days 4-6 for Essaouira (2 nights) plus an Agafay desert sunset dinner.

The 10-Day Morocco Itinerary

Adds the imperial cities of the north. Best done as a one-way Marrakech-to-Fez route.

The 14-Day Morocco Itinerary

The full loop with breathing room — the pace most travellers end up loving most.

Add Essaouira by extending to 16 days, or swap Rabat for a coast night in Essaouira coming out of Marrakech.

The 21-Day Morocco Itinerary

Three weeks lets you see everything at a genuinely relaxed pace and add the deep south and the coast. Use the 14-day loop as your spine, then add: 2-3 nights in Essaouira, a southern kasbah loop through Zagora or Erg Chigaga, and a trekking block in the Atlas (a 3-day Toubkal summit or a High Atlas valley traverse). This is the itinerary for travellers who want to actually live in Morocco for a while, not just visit.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best 7-day Morocco itinerary?

Marrakech (2 days) → High Atlas day trip → Marrakech to Merzouga Sahara loop (3 days) → Marrakech (1 day). It packs in the medina, mountains and desert without rushing. Add Essaouira instead of the desert if you prefer coast.

Is 10 days enough to see Fez and Chefchaouen too?

Yes. A 10-day loop adds Fez and Chefchaouen: start Marrakech, Sahara via Merzouga, up to Fez, day trip to Chefchaouen, finish in Fez or fly out. It's busy but very doable with private transport.

How much driving is involved?

More than people expect. The Marrakech-Merzouga leg is ~9 hours with stops over a day. A private vehicle with a driver turns travel time into scenery time; public transport doubles it. Build in rest days on longer itineraries.

Can these itineraries be customised?

Every one of them. Adjust duration, swap the desert for the coast, add trekking, upgrade accommodation, or change the start/end city. Use our plan-my-trip form and we'll tailor any route to you.
