This coastal 7-day variation swaps the Sahara for the Atlantic. It pairs two days in Marrakech, an Atlas Mountains day trip, and two relaxed days in Essaouira — Morocco's most charming coastal town. It is an excellent choice for families, summer travellers (when the desert is too hot), and anyone who prefers sea breeze to sand dunes.
Day 1 — Arrive in Marrakech
Arrive at Marrakech Menara Airport, transfer to your medina riad, and spend the first evening at Jemaa el-Fnaa. A rooftop dinner overlooking the square is the perfect introduction.
Day 2 — Marrakech Medina & Souks
A full guided day in the medina — palaces, madrasa, souks and a hammam. A licensed guide orients you and takes you straight to the best workshops. Dinner at a medina restaurant.
Day 3 — Atlas Mountains Day Trip
A day trip to Imlil for a Berber village hike with a mountain guide, or the Ourika Valley for waterfalls and a riverside lunch. Return to Marrakech in the evening — a green contrast to the city.
Day 4 — Marrakech to Essaouira
A scenic 2.5–3 hour drive west through argan country, stopping at a women's argan cooperative. Arrive in Essaouira for a guided medina walk, the Skala ramparts and a harbour seafood lunch. Overnight in a medina riad.
Day 5 — Essaouira Free Day
A relaxed day on the Atlantic — beach time, the blue boats at the harbour, art galleries, windsurfing or a camel ride on the beach. Sunset from the ramparts and dinner in the medina. Two nights lets you experience Essaouira at its unhurried best.
Day 6 — Essaouira to Marrakech
A leisurely morning in Essaouira, then the drive back to Marrakech. An optional Agafay desert sunset dinner on the edge of the city makes a memorable final evening.
Day 7 — Departure
A final morning for souk shopping or the Majorelle Garden, then your airport transfer.

About 175 km, 2.5–3 hours each way through argan country. A day trip is possible but an overnight (or two) is far better — Essaouira rewards a relaxed stay, especially for the sunset on the ramparts.
