Best ages, family-friendly destinations, health, pacing and the best family tours — a guide to Morocco with kids by local parents.
Morocco is a fantastic family destination — colourful, safe, and full of experiences that captivate children: camel rides, desert camps, snake charmers, waterfalls and tanneries. With a little planning, it is one of the most rewarding places to take kids.
Morocco works well from around age 5 up. Babies are adored but medina streets are not stroller-friendly — a carrier is better. Teens love the desert, surfing and the medina energy.
Marrakech (short, varied activities), Essaouira (beach, ramparts, gentle pace), the Ourika Valley (easy waterfall walk), and a Sahara camp (the camel ride and stars are unforgettable). Avoid long desert drives with very young children.
Use bottled water, stick to busy cooked-food stalls, and carry rehydration sachets. Moroccan food is kid-friendly: msemen pancakes, tagine, grilled meat and fresh bread. Most riads can prepare milder dishes on request.
Plan one main activity per day and build in riad-pool and rooftop downtime. Mornings are coolest and best for sightseeing; afternoons for rest. Our family tours are paced with kids in mind.
