Two weeks is the grand tour — cities, desert, mountains and coast in one unhurried loop.
Two weeks is the grand tour of Morocco. It is long enough to see everything the country is famous for — the imperial cities, the Sahara, the Atlas Mountains and the Atlantic coast — at a pace that lets you actually absorb each place rather than ticking boxes. This is the itinerary we recommend for travellers who want the complete Morocco experience and have the time to do it justice.
Three days in the Red City: two for the medina, palaces, gardens and souks with a licensed guide, and one for an Atlas Mountains day trip to Imlil or the Ourika Valley. Three days gives you city depth plus a mountain contrast, and lets you recover from your flight before the desert leg.
The classic three-day desert loop: Ait Ben Haddou and the Dades Valley on day 4, Todra Gorge and the camel trek into Erg Chebbi on day 5, sunrise over the dunes and the drive north to Fes on day 6. The night in a desert camp under a sky thick with stars is the centrepiece of the whole trip.
Two days in the world's oldest living medina: the tanneries, madrasas, the Merenid Tombs for sunset, and the new-city cafes. A local guide is essential — the Fes medina is genuinely labyrinthine and a guide turns it from confusing to captivating.
Two days in the Blue City in the Rif Mountains. Wander the blue lanes early for the best light and fewest crowds, hike to the Spanish Mosque for sunset, and take an optional half-day to the Akchour waterfalls for a green contrast to the blue.
Head west to Essaouira for two days of sea breeze, ramparts, fresh seafood and a windswept beach — the perfect palate cleanser after the cities and desert. Surfers can swap Essaouira for Taghazout, Morocco's surf capital, with world-class point breaks and a laid-back village feel.
Travel back to Marrakech (or Casablanca) for a final day of souk shopping, a hammam, or an Agafay desert sunset dinner. Day 14 is your departure transfer. If you fly out of Casablanca, a stop at the Hassan II Mosque is a fitting grand finale.
This 14-day grand tour is best booked as a single private itinerary with all transport, accommodation, guides and the desert camp arranged end-to-end. Submit your dates, group size and accommodation preferences through the plan-my-trip form and we will build this exact route around you. See this route alongside 7, 10 and 21-day alternatives on our main
page.
A private 14-day version runs approximately $1,800–2,800 per person at a mid-range standard (private driver-guide, riads and kasbah hotels, guided tours, desert camp, many meals). Luxury riads and a private luxury desert camp raise the total; group departures lower it. International flights are not included.
Not at all. Two weeks is the ideal length for a grand tour that covers Marrakech, the Sahara, Fes, Chefchaouen and the Atlantic coast at a relaxed pace with rest days built in. It avoids the rushed feel of shorter trips and lets you go deeper in each region.
A mid-range private 14-day trip runs roughly $1,800–2,800 per person including private transport, riad and hotel accommodation, guided tours, the desert camp and many meals. Luxury accommodation and a private luxury camp push the total higher. Flights are extra.
The grand tour: 3 days Marrakech, 3-day Sahara loop to Merzouga, 2 days Fes, 2 days Chefchaouen, 2 days Essaouira or Taghazout on the coast, and 2 flex days for the Atlas, travel or rest. It is a clockwise loop with minimal backtracking.
April–May and September–October are ideal across all regions. Summer is too hot for the desert and lowland cities but fine for the coast. Winter is quiet and beautiful but cold at night in the desert and mountains.
Yes — every itinerary we build is private and tailor-made. Swap the coast for more mountains, add a Toubkal summit trek, slow the pace, or upgrade to luxury riads throughout. Tell us your vision via the plan-my-trip form.
