مرزوقة وعرق الشبي هي الوجهة الأكثر رواجاً: كثبان يصل ارتفاعها إلى 150 م، على بعد 8 ساعات بالسيارة من مراكش عبر مضايق دادس وآيت بن حدو. أما عرق شيكاكة الأبعد فيُبلغ في يومين بسيارة دفع رباعي من زاكورة ويقدّم عزلة تامة. وتصلح زاكورة لإقامات قصيرة بكثبانها الأكثر تواضعاً.
تشمل التجربة النموذجية ركوب الجمال عند الغروب ومبيتاً في مخيم على الكثبان (خيمة بربرية أو مخيم فاخر بمرافق) وعشاءً تقليدياً وشروق الشمس على الكثبان صباحاً. وتقدّم المخيمات الفاخرة خياماً واسعة وأسرّة مريحة وأحياناً مسبحاً.
أفضل موسم من أكتوبر إلى أبريل: أيام معتدلة وليالٍ منعشة، مثالية للمشي والتصوير. من مايو إلى سبتمبر تتجاوز الحرارة نهاراً 45°م — تجنب المشي في وضح النهار. وتظل الليالي باردة حتى في الشتاء: أحضر سترة دافئة.
